Orion Nebula

Photography

Captured in Western MA, this shot was something I have wanted to capture for a very long time, and it took years of learning, gear upgrades, fine tuning to achieve.

This photo was captured with the following:

  • Canon 6D unmodified
  • VMC200L with focal reducer
  • Orion Sirius EQ G mount
  • Polemaster for polar alignment
  • Orion StarShoot AutoGuider w/ Mini 50mm Guide Scope
  • 14 lights @ 120sec, 800 ISO / 14 darks / 27 bias / 26 flats
  • PixInsight Batchpreprocessing / Color calibration / DBE / Histogram Stretch / Sharpening
  • Photoshop and Lightroom for post processing

Progress over the years, with the one on the left being a super simple setup of an SLR on a tripod
